Axial compressive performance of laminated bamboo column with aramid fiber reinforced polymer

This paper presents test results obtained from an experimental investigation to check the feasibility of reinforcing laminated bamboo columns by using aramid fiber reinforced polymer (AFRP) composites and examine effect slenderness ratio on AFRP columns. Eighteen full-scale were grouped into 6 categories including 3 specimens without reinforcements. Obtained used study failure modes, ultimate load carrying capacities displacements for with ratios. The use reinforcements had obvious effects modes. Existing relevant analytical models their suitability in predicting compression resistance considered but comparisons showed significant room improvement. Two equations are proposed herein, based evidence, predicted capacity good agreement results.
